Lean, mean and super keen

Last week I mentioned I’d be chatting with Lauren Wong about something new and exciting that we’ve been working on—and the cat is officially out of the bag. We’ve founded a branding studio together!
Introducing, SUPER KEEN.
To be keen is to be eager and enthusiastic. To be super keen is to amplify that by 1000. Our name comes from an intense enthusiasm to help launch ideas that create equitable, ecological futures for us all.
Starting a studio is something that I think a lot of people assumed I would eventually do, but it wasn’t until Lauren came along that I really considered it. We hear so much about falling in love, but falling in partnership is just as intoxicating.*
We’re a lean and mean team of two at the moment but we’ll always be looking for partners, freelancers, collaborators, and specialists—so please don’t be shy if you or someone you know would like to be added to our creative network.
We have so many ideas and so much to learn, so we’ll be sharing a lot of that along the way. My hope is that this leap will also be a source of inspiration to inject into this newsletter and figure out ways to make it more sustainable long-term.
So, we digress. Some very unthematic links worth clicking this week:
An open-source serif typeface commissioned by Google Fonts, designed for on-screen, longer-form reading. 42 styles! Dayum.
I have a soft spot for microsites that do one thing really simple. Here, you can make a flowchart really quick and easy just by typing.
WTF are NFTs?
You’ve probably seen this acronym floating around a lot lately, and I’m hardly an expert when it comes to Cryptoart or currency. I can appreciate that the conversation around NFTs specifically has been sensationalised, however, this is the best article I’ve read on the topic that hasn’t come from a source directly linked to the Crypto world.
Have a great week and stay safe my friends.
*Lauren 100% wrote that line.
Resource of the Week
I’ve been playing around with Spark AR the past few days, experimenting with building face filters and meshing. Even though I have no idea what I’m doing, it’s so much fun! I’d love to see more funny, weird, and wonderful filters in the library, and less that make you look like a Kardashian. It’s free software (well, it’s from Facebook so it’s always costing you something) and there are loads of tutorials to get you started.

Zoning out. In fact, the whole album is pretty good for that.
